EXTENDED BIOGRAPHY
nightlight are a Melbourne-based trio making pop music for alternative people
Vocalist Laura Lazzara and keytarist/synth player Hayley Austen have been creating music together since high school, but with the official addition of drummer Jordan Higgins in mid-2024, the band’s trap-pop roots collided head-on with the alternative scene.
This new era launched with the singles ‘crushin’’ (June 2024) and ‘NEZUMI!’ (October 2024), the latter premiered on triple j’s short.fast.loud. Early 2025 saw the release of ‘DYHM’ and ‘what if i’m the devil?’(featuring Ami & Kira from Future Static), the centrepiece of their debut EP ‘how does it feel?’. Exploring themes of rediscovering identity after heartbreak and betrayal, the EP’s feature track landed Spotify editorial playlists Misfits 2.0 and Homegrown & Heavy, cementing nightlight’s place in Australia’s heavy-pop landscape.
In August 2025, the trio returned with ‘HEAVEN//BELOW’, the first single from their upcoming multi-volume EP series ‘PARALLEL//LINES’. Supported by Scenestr, The Hot and Heavy Show, PitPass.com.au, and a First Play on triple j’s The Core, the release solidified their maximalist, high-impact sound - a bold statement of intent for the next chapter.
Known for their loud, immersive live sets that merge pop polish with heavy chaos, a curated visual identity, and a wall-of-sound energy, nightlight have supported a wide array of artists including Charlotte Sands (USA), RedHook, Future Static and Zheani.
